I was so excited to do this project... It's a beautiful blend of graphic design, urban design and planning, and landscape architecture. What a dream! My experience at DTJ Design gave me the knowledge to peruse many pages of CDOT construction documents to glean the information I needed for these reconstruction renderings. From there I worked in Photoshop, building the environment from the bottom up.
I used various methods of building the rendering.. In some, I relied on my natural ability to see perspective (which is amateur), and sketched out the new perspective. At times I used Rhino to help me build a more accurate representation. This is the tact I should have taken for all of them, as the client wanted a rendering that was quite precise. I also relied on CDOT construction documents to guide me on the form of the hardscape, the layout of vegetation, painted road signage, and more.
Renderings are SO much fun. It's always a joy to play in Photoshop, creating layers of color, texture, shadow, etc.., but to bring imagined life to a space, and to convey to the public what it could be... I'm blessed to have had the opportunity to do that.
